Drone attacks quicken: 15 killed in 2 attacks
US stepped up drone attacks once again in the tribal areas of Pakistan when two drone attacks in north as well as South Waziristan killed 12 people on Tuesday.
The first drone strike was carried out at Dattakhel area of North Waziristan where missiles were fired on a vehicle. Five people were killed in the attack. The second drone attack in SarwarKhawara area of District Shawal in South Waziristan killed 10 people. The information could not be verified through independent sources as the district is out of reach of media and aid workers. At least seven suspected militants were killed on Friday in a similar US drone attack in the Shakoti area of South Waziristan. Pakistan has publicly opposed the attacks because they provoke anger and help insurgent recruiting efforts.
