In Syria, at least 22 people including 16 soldiers were killed as security forces moved to retake control of Damascus suburbs from anti-regime forces.
The troops backed by tanks have been shelling anti-government forces held areas. Ten security personnel were killed when their convoy was attacked in Kansafra. Six others including two officers were killed by an armed group near the Damascus. Three civilians were killed in a clash in Ghuta near Damascus. According to reports at least 229 people including 84 security personnel have been killed since Tuesday.
