STEAM Education- Need of today’s Era
The post-Covid era has seen numerous challenges in various sectors, particularly education and the labour industry. Rapid technological innovation and its associated applications have transformed the workplace of the twenty-first century. As a result, preparing students to be qualified human resources for the future is a current need.
For young people to “handle effectively and successfully with 21st century global concerns that are influencing the economy,” STEAM education is an essential component.
What is STEAM?
STEAM education includes science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Science, technology, engineering, and math are a group of knowledge that is closely related to the arts.
In order to promote problem solving and critical thinking in regard to the particular subject as connected to integrative or holistic education, the STEAM idea should be included into the curriculum. These new practices highlight the necessity to revise curriculum and textbooks for STEAM idea inclusion.
The twenty-first century has seen various scientific-technological challenges that have improved people’s lives. The use of technology in STEAM education has also grown, and the development of STEAM-based content and the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) have coincided with the fourth industrial revolution.
Policymakers and curriculum developers around the country are expanding their attention on the importance of the arts in STEM and investigating ways to design and implement STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) programs in accordance with evolving societal demands.
If Pakistan wants to cope up with the modern world then there is a need to implement STEAM education in the curriculum of primary and elementary levels. because it’s necessary to build the concept of STEAM in the starting years of a student’s education.
